I believe that any animals immune system is related to gut health and control of internal parasites. That's why routine deworming of your pets is vital to their health.
Chemical dewormers are very harsh on gut flora, the immune system and leave toxic residue in the body. They also affect the natural PH of the blood, turning it to acidic.
I use an alternative for called diatomaceous earth for regular cleaning of my dogs systems of parasites. I use it for natural flea control and routine dewormer. It's totally safe for dogs & cats and you can even take it as well 🙂 We worm our animals regularly, but do we ever stop and think... have I wormed myself?
If you are around animals all the time like me, regular deworming of yourself is very important. There are also MANY other benefits to this natural gift. DE promotes skin health, heart health, teeth, hair, tendons, cartilage, nails and even provides a natural source of silica. Silica is found in almost every organ of the body. And the list goes on and on. So why shouldn't you use DE? I can't find a reason why not!
Diatomaceous Earth is basically remnants of fossilized sea shells or algae that accumulated in rivers over a long period of time. On a microscopic level the diatoms have sharp pointy like "knives" that can cut through the exoskeletons of the parasites. Do not worry this will not hurt your pet, it will kill the bugs inside of them however 🙂 The first pesticide ever to be used was DE.
Make sure you use FOOD GRADE DE for you and your animals. For the animals I usually use a food grade DE with Bentonite Clay added from Tractor Supply. (It is brownish) It comes in a 50lb bag and lasts forever! For my personal consumption I use Permaguard food grade DE. (It is white)
As part of a regular dewormer for your pet try sprinkling a small amount to start on top of their food & add 2-3 tablespoons of flaxseed oil to mix. Make sure you do this for at least 7 days in a row, at least 4 times a year to be effective. It is also VERY IMPORTANT to provide free choice water at all times while deworming your pet.
